“I signed my first employment contract in this business on January 1, 2008, as a financial advisor trainee at a major wirehouse. That happened to be the brink of the Great Financial Crisis — a fascinating and humbling time to begin a career in finance.
I’ve always considered that timing a stroke of luck. It gave me a front-row seat to one of the most consequential periods investors have ever experienced and pushed me to search for voices that could make sense of it all. That’s when I discovered Barry Ritholtz and Josh Brown. Their perspectives resonated immediately.
A few years later, after more than a decade in Syracuse, my family and I were ready to return to Long Island. Around the same time, Barry, Josh, Michael Batnick, and I began working together at a firm in New York City. Nine months later, we launched Ritholtz Wealth Management — built from the ground up with the belief that transparency, empathy, and good advice never go out of style.”
“The people. I read somewhere that if you’re the smartest person in the room, you should leave that room – if that’s the case, I’m not leaving this room anytime soon. That’s true for my coworkers, as well as our clients.”
“My wife, Lori, and I live on Long Island, just a short drive from my four co-founders — which makes it hard to ever really “clock out.” Our daughter, Juliana, is a policy analyst in Washington, D.C., where she lives with her husband, and our son plays lacrosse in college up in Rhode Island.
When I’m not working with our advisors and partners to grow RWM, I’m usually in the garden or plotting the next family meal. Lori and I travel as often as life allows, and in the summer, we spend as many hours as possible on the beach.”
